Field Trips

WAMSI offers several field trips annually around Oregon and the Northwest.

Field trips are a fun way to make new friends, learn from experienced rockhounds, and maybe even bring home a new treasure or two. Each trip has a leader whose role is to help everyone have the most successful trip possible. Some field trips are day trips; others are multi-day trips where you can share your finds with the group at camp. WAMS field trips have included Old Marker Ranch, Beers Mountain, Nelscott Beach, Succor Creek and Hampton Butte.

Additionally, WAMS Juniors have their own field trips, including to the Rice Museum, the Living Rock Museum, special digs, or to members’ homes to learn more about rocks and lapidary arts.

Upcoming field trips planned for 2025 include:

  • April 26: Beers Mountain
  • May 30 – June 1: Hampton Butte

WAMS field trips are only for WAMS members in good standing (ie. paid membership). Download the membership form here.
